The Union Home Ministry has revoked the Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation awarded to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Inspector Rahul Raj in 2023. The move follows his arrest in a bribery case, marking a significant development in the fight against corruption within law enforcement agencies.
"The Union Home Minister's Medal for Excellence in Investigation, awarded to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Inspector Rahul Raj in 2023, has been revoked following his arrest in a bribery case. The decision to forfeit the prestigious medal comes after Raj was accused of accepting a bribe in exchange for manipulating inspection reports for nursing colleges in Madhya Pradesh," said Union Home Ministry in an order.
Inspector Raj stands accused of accepting bribes in exchange for tampering with inspection reports related to nursing colleges in Madhya Pradesh. The allegations have raised concerns about ethical practices in critical regulatory oversight.
The medal, considered one of the most prestigious honors for investigative excellence in India, was awarded to Raj for his contributions in solving complex cases. Its forfeiture underscored the government’s zero-tolerance approach towards corruption and misconduct.
Further investigations into the bribery allegations are ongoing, with the CBI assuring stringent measures to uphold integrity within its ranks.
