Bangalore: CBI yesterday filed a chargesheet in a Special Court here against four government officials and a managing director of a Bangalore firm for committing alleged illegalities in the export of iron ore from Belekeri port in Karwar in Karnataka.
All the officials arrested, including the then Port Officer, Karwar Port, then Assistant Conservator of Forests, Ankola Sub-Division, Karwar, and then Range Forest Officer, Ankola, are in judicial custody.
The chargesheet was filed in a CBI Special Court, the central agency said in a statement.
It was alleged that the accused had conspired for exporting 34555.06 MT of iron ore from Belekeri port, which was seized by the Forest Department and handed over to the port authorities for safe custody, by violating the orders of Karnataka High Court.
The case was registered by CBI on September 13, 2012 onthe directions of the Supreme Court to investigate the illegalities committed by various persons in the export of iron ore from Belekeri port.
