New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation today categorically denied all allegations of having conducted a search at the office of the Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal.

“Reports from certain quarters regarding search at the office of Chief Minister, Delhi, are baseless. CBI emphatically denies having searched the office of CM, Delhi,” CBI said today.

Kejriwal, along with senior officials of the Aam Aadmi Party had criticized the CBI for acting on political considerations at the behest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “CBI lying. My own office raided. Files of CM office are being looked into. Let Modi say which file he wants? (sic)” Kejriwal tweeted earlier today.

On its part, the CBI has said that it has registered a case against “a Civil Servant of the Government of NCT, Delhi, and 6 others on the allegations that during the period 2007-2014, he along with others, abused his official position in awarding contracts from the Delhi government to a private firm”.

“After obtaining warrants from the competent court, searches are in progress at 14 locations today in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh,” CBI said today.

“False propaganda should not be used to impede our investigation,” the agency stated, adding that it remained committed to take against the corrupt as per law.

Sources say papers of three immovable properties along with Rs. 2.4 lakh in cash has been recovered from the residence of Rajendra Kumar. Another Rs.10.5 lakh were recovered from co-accused G K Nanda, GM TCIL and formerly MD, ICSIL.

According to sources, allegations against Rajendra Kumar were first raised by Ashish Joshi, former Member Secretary, Delhi Dialogue Commission. In his complaint, Joshi alleged that Kumar, while posted as Director (Education) between 2002 and 2005, created two companies — Caltoonz and EDUDEL MIS — registered in Timarpur. The then office superintendent, Ashok Kumar, was appointed in-charge of Caltoonz.

In September 2015, a prosecutor, who had scrutinised the chargesheet in the Rs 100-crore transport scam, had accused Rajendra Kumar of exerting pressure on him for not finalising the report and allegedly threatened him with suspension.
