Mumbai, Jul 15: In a clinical operation, burglars on Sunday night cleaned up the seventh floor apartment of a businessman Mukesh Gupta, who had gone to attend a wedding with his entire family, and decamped with crores of rupees worth cash and valuables.
The burglary took place in Manali building near Evershine Nagar, Malad. Neighbours had no inkling about the burglary that took place between 10 pm and midnight.
At 10 pm, the businessman's son had returned to the apartment to change clothes. He locked the apartment and went back to the wedding. At 12:30 am, when the Gupta family returned, they found the locks broken, and the entire flat ransacked.
The burglars had broken a steel safe in the pooja room, took away cash and gold and silver idols, and ransacked all the three bedrooms, said Mukesh Gupta.
Police have detained the watchman, domestic servant and driver for interrogation.
B M Indalkar, police inspector, Bangur Nagar, said, this appeared to be an insider's job.
