Thane: At least six persons including a woman have been killed and 10 injured in a building collapse last night at Thakurli in Thane district, a fire brigade official today said.
Two more persons are feared trapped under the rubble and rescue work is in progress, the fire brigade official told PTI.
Two-storeyed building 'Matrukrupa' located at Cholegaon in Thakurli collapsed shortly before midnight, the official said.
"The building 'Matru Chhaya' crashed at about 10.40 pm following heavy downpour. A massive relief and rescue operation has begun and so far three injured persons have been rescued and rushed to the hospital," Regional Disaster Management Committee (RDMC) chief Santosh Kadam said.
Fire brigade teams from Thane, Kalyan, Bhiwandi, and Ambernath have been rushed to the site, he said.
Heavy rains hampered relief and rescue efforts and top police and civilian officials were present on the spot.
