New Delhi: At least 10 people have died after a chartered aircraft of the Border Security Force (BSF) carrying them crashed near Badpola village in Sector 8 of Dwaraka area in Delhi.

The Ranchi-bound BSF Superking aircraft was carrying technicians who were reportedly headed to the border areas when the incident took place.

The 10 people on board the flight included the pilot and Deputy Commandant of BSF.

The deceased include Insp R P Yadav, Pilot Rajesh Shivrain, Pilot B P Bhatt,Dy comdt D. Kumar,Insp s n sharma, SI Ravindra Kr,SI Chotte Lal,ASI D P Chouhan, SI Sunder Singh, Ct K Rawat.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condoled the death of the BSF troopers.

"Pained by the loss of lives in the BSF plane crash in Delhi. My thoughts are with the families of the deceased,"he tweeted.

Home Minister, Rajanath Singh, who immediately rished to the incident saite, tweeted, "The tragic news of the BSF plane crash near the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi is extremely painful. Rushing to the crash site immediately."

MoS Civil Aviation, Mahesh Sharma, called it an unfortunate incident and said that an inquiry has been ordered into the incident.

Meanwhile, PTI sources said that the DG level talks between India and Bangladesh beginning today in Dhaka have been cancelled in the wake of BSF aircraft crash.

The incident took place soon after the Ranchi-bound plane took off from Delhi at 9:40 am, the BSF said, adding that the aircraft was carrying technicians.

Technical snag was reported immediately after the take off. Flying for about 4-6 mins it was directed to come back and land.It lost contact with ATC at around 09:58 am.The aircraft hit the airport boundary wall and fell 10 mtrs from the boundary walls inside the airport.

According to a report by India Today, all flights have been suspended  at IGI airport due to the air crash.

 

According to Delhi fire department, at least 15 fire tenders have reached at the spot.
