Karimganj (Assam), Oct 21: Senior officials from the Border Security Force and Border Guards Bangladesh today held a meeting in south Assam's Karimganj district to discuss issues on efforts to curb cross border smuggling and related matters.
The meeting at Sutarkandi on the Indo-Bangladesh border also decided to work for maintaining peace and preventing illegal movement of people across the frontier, senior officials said.
In the meeting, the BSF delegation was led by DIG (Cachar sector) U C Hazarika and on the BGB side by Brigadier Khourul Zaaman.
The two sides stressed on greater cooperation for preventing illegal activities like smuggling of drugs, alcohol and cattle between the borders of the two nations.
They also decided to hold another round of meeting in November at Syhlet in Bangladesh.
