Kochi, Apr 14 : On a unique round the world voyage, the tall ship Lord Nelson, the flag ship of Jubilee Trust of United Kingdom today touched the shores of Kochi harbour on Saturday.
Sailing with a physically challenged crew, the ship was welcomed by Indian Navy's INS Tarangini and INS Sudarshini who went out to sea to receive her
On a ground-breaking voyage to circumnavigate the globe as part of the ‘Norton Rose Sail the World Challenge', the vessel will undertake a coastal voyage here.
The 23-month global voyage, a first-of-its-kind initiative is supported by international legal firm Norton Rose.
The ship has been designed to allow disabled and able-bodied crew to sail alongside each other as equals.
Currently, there are are 40 people on board the ship.
Though now there are no Indians on board the vessel, five people from here will be among the crew taking part in the in-country voyage from April 18 to 24.
