Mumbai : The British Council launched scholarships worth Rs 10 crore for 270 Indian students, which it claimed is the largest ever such programme for the country.
With around 370 scholarships worth almost 1 million pounds (around Rs 10 crore) for 260 undergraduate and postgraduate courses in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, this is the largest ever scholarship programme for Indian students, the British Council said in a statement.
The programme was announced yesterday with participation from 36 British institutions such as the London School of Economics (LSE), besides varsities of London, Edinburgh, Kingston, Lancaster, Leeds, Birmingham, Middlesex, Northampton, Nottingham, Sheffield, and South Wales, among others.
Scholarships will be tenable for September 2014 and January 2015 intakes, the statement said.
The British Council also launched a ‘Great Career Guide' that features articles about popular subjects which Indian students choose to study in the UK and
opportunities available thereafter.
Launched in February 2012, the campaign is a strategic international marketing programme designed to promote the UK to business, tourism and student markets worldwide in order to enhance its global reputation.
