Begusarai: You must have come across many tales of knights abducting beautiful princesses and living happily ever after but here we are recounting an altogether different but real story.

Priti Kumari, a resident of Bharoul village under Bachhwara police station of Begusarai district, got married to Dhiraj Kumar, a government teacher, in April last year but the marriage was far from tradition.

Dhiraj's family members had refused to accept Priti, they allege that their son was abducted by Priti's family members and forced into marriage. She was unacceptable to them.

After remaining silent for several months, the 19 year old took matters into her own hands and tried forcing entry into her husband's home at Makdumpur village, not far from her ancestral place.

But her husband and in-laws were in no mood to welcome her. So Priti has decided to sit on an indefinite strike outside their house until they accept her.

She declared amidst a large gathering of villagers that she would die rather than go back to her parent's home. Tension is mounting in the village and police has been alerted. Some cops have been deployed in order to keep a tab on the development in the area.

The police and local social activists have tried to persuade the husband's family. They told her in-laws that the girl had no role in the entire episode (abduction and forced marriage) but to no avail.

According to villagers, the groom's father had earlier lodged a complaint against Priti's father and others for forcing his son into marriage without his approval.

However, Priti's family members allege that Dhiraj's father had been demanding Rs.5 lakh and many expensive items as dowry which they haven't fulfilled, so they disown her.

Reena Kumar, member of the local women's commission, subsequently tried to convince Dhiraj's family but they remained adamant.
