New Delhi: Sunanda Pushkar, wife of Union Minister of state for HRD Shashi Tharoor, allegedly committed suicide today in her hotel room number 345 in Leela Hotel in Chanakyapuri.
Sunanda, alongwith her husband Shashi Tharoor, had booked two rooms in the hotel yesterday and had checked in, said Tharoor's PS Abhinav Kumar.
He said, the cause of death was still unknown. The couple had checked into the hotel because painting work was going on inside the minister's bungalow.
Kumar said, Shashi Tharoor returned to the hotel between 8:15 pm and 8:30 pm. At 8:45 pm, police was informed about Sunanda's death, he said.
Kumar said, Tharoor believed his wife was sleeping in bed, and he inquiried from the hotel staff, since when was Sunanda sleeping. Tharoor immediately called me over phone, he added.
