Hours after the main accused in the Badlapur sexual case was shot dead in retaliatory firing by the Maharashtra Police, Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) leaders on Monday (September 23) came down heavily on the ruling Mahayuti regime, citing the incident as an absolute breakdown of law enforcement and justice systems.

Ahead of Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Anil Desai said, “Seat-sharing talks are going on very smoothly and soon we’ll be able to declare the number of seats per party. In Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), it is smooth sailing as far as the seat-sharing arrangement is concerned. There will not be any deadlock, in the past also there was no deadlock.”

Badlapur school sex abuse accused Akshay Shinde died in exchange of firing during an escaping bid on Monday. The primary information suggests that the accused snatched a gun from the police personnel and opened fire at them in a bid to escape. A police personnel also got injured in the incident.

A 38-year-old Kerala man, who was last week confirmed to have contracted the monkeypox virus following his return to India from the UAE, is said to be infected with the MPOX clade 1. According to the available information, the person is said to be infected with Clade 1b strain and is presently stable. "This was the first case of the current strain that led to the World Health Organization declaring Mpox a public health emergency last month for a second time," a source said.
