    President Biden and Prime Minister Modi hailed a watershed arrangement to establish a new semiconductor fabrication plant focused on advanced sensing, communication, and power electronics for national security, next generation telecommunications, and green energy applications. The fab, which will be established with the objective of manufacturing infrared, gallium nitride and silicon carbide semiconductors, will be enabled by support from the India Semiconductor Mission as well as a strategic technology partnership between Bharat Semi, 3rdiTech, and the U.S. Space Force.

    Two held in Jan Shatabdi derailment bid near Uttarakhand's Rudrapur

    Two people have been arrested in connection with the alleged derailment bid of the Naini Jan Shatabdi Express by placing six-metre-long iron pole on track between Bilaspur Road and Rudrapur City railway stations on September 18 here, police said.

    The driver of the Naini Jan Shatabdi Express on Wednesday averted a possible accident when he slammed the emergency brakes on finding an iron pole across the tracks near Uttarakhand's Rudrapur, officials said, alleging that it could be sabotage.

    Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Sunday visited Ramrai Kutir, the last Indian village along the international border with Bangladesh, in Dhubri district, an official statement said.

    The CPI(M), which had ruled Tripura for 35 years in two phases, on Sunday said the party lost over 60,000 members after the BJP came to power in the state in 2018.

    Addressing a meeting organised in memory of the party's general secretary Sitaram Yechury at Udaipur in Gomati district, Tripura CPI(M) secretary Jitendra Chaudhury said, "The party had over 98,000 members before the 2018 assembly elections but it has now come down to 37,000".

    Tiger found dead in Rajasthan's Ranthambore National Park

    A three-year-old male tiger was found dead on Sunday following a territorial battle in Ranthambore Tiger Reserve, located in Rajasthan's Sawai Madhopur district, an official said. Ramanand Bhaskar, Deputy Conservator of Forest told PTI that the forest guards discovered the tiger's body in the Khandar range, showing signs of injury.

    "Preliminary evidence suggests that the tiger, T-2312, died during a territorial dispute," Bhaskar said

    India announces USD 500,000 scholarship for Indo-Pacific students

    India has announced a new initiative to award fifty Quad scholarships, worth USD 500,000, to students from the Indo-Pacific. These scholarships will enable students to pursue a four-year undergraduate engineering programme at a Government of India-funded technical institution, said the Wilmington Declaration issued after the fourth in-person Quad Summit.

    Hosted by President Joe Biden, the Quad Leaders' Summit took place on Saturday in his hometown Wilmington, Delaware. It was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese of Australia, and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan.
