    Goods train derails in UP's Sonbhadra; track found broken in Jaunpur

    The engine of a goods train derailed in Sonbhadra early on Monday, disrupting rail traffic for hours after debris from a nearby hill fell on the tracks due to heavy rains, railway officials said. No casualty has been reported so far and train traffic was restored after the tracks were cleared of the debris, they said.

    Around 3 am on Monday, the goods train travelling from Chunar to Chopan in the Sonbhadra district hit the debris near Brahmababa bridge and its engine got derailed, a railway official said.

    Decapitated body of man found on terrace of Thane shopping complex

    The body of a 35-year-old man with his head severed was found on the terrace of a shopping complex in Maharashtra's Thane city on Monday morning, police said. The headless body of Somnath Sadgir, a security supervisor, was found on the terrace of the complex in the Kapurbawdi area and has been sent to a government hospital for post-mortem, an official said.

    Woman pillion rider killed after car hits scooter in Kerala

    A 47-year-old woman was killed after the scooter on which she was riding pillion met with an accident involving a car at Sasthamcotta near here, police said on Monday. The accused driver Ajmal (27), who went absconding, was taken into custody from the district on Monday morning, police said. According to the FIR, the incident happened at 4.30 pm on Sunday at Annorkkavu junction near Sasthamcotta.

    Labourer held for murdering contractor over wage dispute in Thane

    A 23-year-old labourer was arrested in Ambernath in Thane district for allegedly bludgeoning his employer to death, a police official said on Monday. Saleem Yakub Sheikh hammered labour contractor Abdul Rehman (52) to death on Sunday following an argument after the former's daily wages were reduced from the promised Rs 1,000 to Rs 700, Ambernath police station senior inspector Ashok Bhagat said.

    Maharashtra: Vada pav seller booked for abetment of suicide after teen hangs himself

    A man was booked in Bhiwandi in Thane for abetment of suicide after a 16-year-old boy hanged himself, a police official said on Monday. The accused has been identified as vada pav seller Kunal Chowdhary, the Narpoli police station official said. "On September 11, deceased Gaurav Jha went to Chowdhary's shop to buy vada pav. He asked the teen to drop some items at his house, which the boy refused. Chowdhary slapped him. Insulted, the boy hanged himself in his house some time later," Senior Inspector Bharat Kamath said.

    Man shot dead over 'property dispute' in Noida

    A man was allegedly shot dead on Sunday night over a suspected dispute regarding a property in Noida's Sector 142 area, police said. Sector 142 police station in-charge inspector Pushpraj Singh said Navendra Jha was shot at near Sector 137 metro station around 7 pm. He was admitted to Felix Hospital, where he died during treatment. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
