Health condition of at least 19 children undergoing treatment at the paediatric ward of the Neemuch district hospital in Madhya Pradesh deteriorated on Saturday after they were administered antibiotic injections, their family members said.

Officials said at night that the health condition of the children was normal. An investigation is launched, they added.

Two persons, including a girl, were killed and another injured when their car skidded off the road and plunged into Chenab river in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district on Saturday, police said. The accident took place near Garsoo village around 1.45 pm when the trio were travelling to their Drabshala village in Kishtwar district, they said. A rescue operation was launched immediately after the car rolled down over 200 feet before hitting the riverbed, police said.

Asserting that Article 370 can only be restored by the Government of India, the chairman of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) Ghulam Nabi Azad, took a dig at the National Conference (NC) and the Congress over the "restoration of statehood" of Jammu and Kashmir.

A 60-year-old man was arrested in Assam's Lakhimpur district for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl, police said on Saturday. The incident happened in the Harmati area on Friday evening, they said. "The accused allegedly raped the minor in his shop. We are ascertaining the details of the case," a police officer said.

The BJP on Saturday asserted that the registration of a case on several criminal charges, including corruption, against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has exposed the Congress, as it noted that the FIR was lodged following a court order and central agencies had no role in it.

BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi told reporters that it is a rare case of a sitting chief minister being made an accused in a corruption case and has unmasked the "corrupt face" of the Congress.

The Veppadai police in Namakkal district on Saturday registered cases including attempt to murder, assault, and endangering public life, against six suspects of the brazen ATM heist in Kerala’s Thrissur district, a senior police official said. One of the six persons detained by the police, following a dramatic chase at Kumarapalayam on Friday, is undergoing treatment at the Coimbatore government hospital for injuries he sustained when the police opened fire in self-defence after he attacked. The seventh person in the gang, the container truck driver, was gunned down by the police when he assaulted a police official and fled.

A couple allegedly died by suicide at their residence at Angamaly near here, while their two children were hospitalised, police said on Saturday. The incident happened on Friday night, they said.

The BJP will contest the upcoming assembly polls in Jharkhand in alliance with NDA partners AJSU Party and Janata Dal (United), Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Saturday. Sarma, who is the BJP's Jharkhand election co in-charge, said that the seat-sharing agreement with the allies is in the final stage.

At least four persons were killed and 30 others injured when a tourist bus from Uttar Pradesh fell on its side in Odisha's Balasore district, police said on Saturday. The accident took place when the bus on its way to Puri skidded off the road and fell on its side in paddy field near Mahamadnagar Patna on national highway-60 on Friday midnight, the police said.

A student of Himachal Pradesh University died after allegedly falling from the third floor of the hostel here, police said on Saturday. The incident occurred on late Friday when Akhil, a first year law student hailing from Kinnaur district, fell from the hostel in Shimla's Summer Hill and was injured, they said. He was taken to the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital by the students where doctors declared him brought dead, the police said.

The government on Friday lifted the ban on the export of non-basmati white rice with immediate effect, a move praised by exporters. In July 2023, the government had imposed the ban to ensure domestic supply of rice and keep prices under control.

Three unidentified assailants opened fire at a second-hand luxury car showroom in west Delhi's Naraina area on Friday evening, police said. While no one was injured in the incident, several luxury cars were damaged. Sources said it was an extortion bid by the Himanshu Bhau gang and a slip reading "Himanshu bhau since 2020" was recovered from the spot.
