 Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai conducted a surprise inspection at construction sites amid the ongoing anti-dust campaign. 

The security forces found suspected explosive material in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Monday, officials said. The material was recovered during a routine area domination patrol along a link road in Saranoo village, they said.

The CBI has filed a charge sheet against the prime accused, Sanjay Roy, in the rape and murder case of a trainee doctor at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, officials said on Monday.

In its charge sheet filed before a special court in Kolkata, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said Roy, who was working as a civic volunteer with the local police, allegedly committed the crime on August 9 when the victim had gone to sleep in the seminar room of the hospital during a break, they said.

Four persons were killed and several others injured in a coal mine blast in West Bengal's Birbhum district on Monday, police said. However, West Bengal Power Development Corporation Ltd (WBPDCL) claimed that five people lost their lives due to the blast in its mine. The incident happened around 10.30 am in Bhadulia block, a police officer said.

A case has been registered against a fake doctor who allegedly operated a clinic without a medical degree in Maharashtra's Nagpur city, police said on Monday. The accused, Manoj Kumar Hanwate (42), a resident of Samta Nagar, opened his clinic in the Jaripatka area six years ago and has been treating people since, an official said.

Tiwary, who was the country manager of Amazon India, was appointed as the Managing Director of Nestle India effective from August 1, 2025, according to a regulatory filing. Narayanan will retire as Chairman & Managing Director of Nestle India on July 31, 2025 after serving 26 years, it added.

Two girls drowned in the Ganga river here when they had gone to immerse 'puja' material used during the Navratri festival, police said on Monday. The incident took place on Sunday when Divyanshi (6) and Shivanki (8), residents of Matni in Sandi police station area, went to Rajghat to immerse the 'pujan samagri' (puja material) with other girls, police said.

Two persons accused of sexually harassing two girls while they were returning from their school last week were arrested on Monday after an encounter which left them injured in their legs, police said. Accused Dheeraj Patel and Ritik, aged between 18-20 years, allegedly fired shots when a police team surrounded them acting on a tip-off, Additional Superintendent of Police Deependra Nath Chowdhury said.

An assistant development officer (agriculture) in the district was suspended for allegedly entering the Vindhyavasini temple wearing shoes and neglecting his official duties during the Navratri festival.
