    Six people have been arrested for allegedly pelting stones at a police party outside the Dasna Devi temple on Friday night during a protest against priest Narsinghanand Saraswati's remarks on Prophet Muhammad. Amir, Shahzad, Sazid, Shoeb and two others from Masuri have been arrested as they allegedly pelted stones at the police party which was trying to disperse the mob outside the temple, officials said on Sunday.

    FIR lodged against Saurabh Bharadwaj, 3 AAP MLAs for ruckus over bus marshal issue

    Delhi Police on Sunday registered a case against AAP minister Saurabh Bharadwaj and three party MLAs for the ruckus at the Secretariat and Lt Governor's House over the issue of reinstatement of bus marshals. According to the FIR registered based on a complaint by Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta, the AAP MLAs have been charged under in Civil Lines police station under sections 351(2) (criminal intimidation), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), and other relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

    Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk on Sunday sat on a fast at the Ladakh Bhawan where he was staying, after the protesters were denied permission to stage the stir for Ladakh's Sixth Schedule status at Jantar Mantar. Wangchuk, in a brief interaction with media before starting the fast, said they were forced to stage the protest at the Ladakh Bhawan after failing to find any venue for their stir. Around 18 people, including Wangchuk, sat close to the gate of the Ladakh Bhawan, singing the Hindi version of 'We Shall Overcome', and raised slogans such as 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai", "Jai Ladakh " and "Save Ladakh, Save Himalaya".

    Delhi police busts illegal gun-making unit in Meerut flat, 2 arrested

    With the arrest of two persons, Delhi Police on Sunday claimed to have unearthed an illegal gun manufacturing unit.     First instalment of monthly stipend to girl students handed over under Assam govt scheme

    Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday handed over the first instalment of monthly stipends to girl students of class 11 to post-graduation under a new government scheme. The scheme was launched in August by the chief minister.     Three alleged drug peddlers were arrested along with 7.8 grams of heroin in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district on Sunday, police said.

    Uttarakhand: Two stranded foreign mountaineers safely rescued after three-day ordeal

    Two foreign women mountaineers, who were stranded at a height of 6,015 metres on way to the Chaukhamba III peak in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district, were rescued on Sunday morning, the District Disaster Management Centre here said.

    The mountaineers -- Michelle Theresa Dvorak from the USA and Fay Jane Manners from the United Kingdom -- were stranded since October 3.
    Both are safe despite their ordeal lasting three days.

    Mangaluru Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal said, "Today early morning we received information that a businessman Mumthaz Ali's vehicle was found near Kulur bridge. He might have jumped from the bridge. Local police reached the spot and started the investigation. As per the preliminary investigation, around 3 o'clock, he left the house in his car and roamed around the city and around 5 o'clock he stopped his car near the Kulur bridge. The car had certain accidental marks and then after that, his daughter informed the local police. Investigation is underway. SDRF and Coast Guard teams are searching the river and trying to find out whether he has jumped in the river or anybody is there or not..."
