    HC orders Ranchi SSP to file affidavit on why FIR not lodged

    The Jharkhand High Court on Wednesday ordered the Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police Chandan Kumar Sinha to file an affidavit in a criminal writ petition filed by one Subodh Kumar. Kumar, a clerk of an advocate working in the Jharkhand High Court was looted of his belongings while returning from the high court on September 29.

    Odisha is likely to witness a wet Dusshera as a low pressure is brewing in the Bay of Bengal and the IMD has predicted showers on October 23 and 24. While the Navami of Durga Puja festival is on October 23, the day following will be celebrated as 'Dasami' or Dusshera. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its evening bulletin on Wednesday said a low-pressure area will form over the Bay of Bengal around October 20 under the influence of a cyclonic circulation.

    Raghubar Das appointed governor of Odisha, Indra Sena Reddy Nallu of Tripura

    Former Jharkhand chief minister Raghubar Das and BJP leader Indra Sena Reddy Nallu have been appointed as the governors of Odisha and Tripura, respectively, according to a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique on Wednesday. The communique added that President Droupadi Murmu is pleased to make the appointments that will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices. Das, currently a national vice president of the BJP, was the chief minister of Jharkhand from 2014 to 2019. Indra Sena Reddy Nallu is a BJP leader from Telangana.

    Principal secretary to PM reviews progress in implementation of G20 New Delhi Leaders' Declaration

    PK Mishra, the principal secretary to the prime minister, chaired a meeting on Wednesday during which preparations for the G20 Virtual Summit and the Voice of Global South Summit 2.0 were reviewed. The progress made in the implementation of the G20 New Delhi Leaders' Declaration was also reviewed at the meeting and Mishra said that a high-level monitoring mechanism will be set up to regularly oversee its implementation, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said.
