Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren handed over appointment letters to 498 Community Health Officers earlier today, emphasising the government’s commitment to strengthening the health sector.  The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached four immovable properties worth Rs 1.31 crore in the medical question paper leak case in Jammu and Kashmir Common Entrance Test 2012 (JKCET-2012). ED's Srinagar zonal office attached these properties belonging to Sajad Hussain Bhat,  Mohd.  Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to contest 150 to 160 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly election which is bound to take place in the next few weeks. The sources said BJP has finalised the names of candidates in the Maharashtra Core Committee meeting. They said the BJP will claim around 160 seats in the Mahayuti coalition. In the key decision, Maharashtra Cabinet on Monday made five toll plazas free for light motor vehicles (cars) in Mumbai. The decision is significantly going to benefit the commuters who pass through these points on a daily basis. The decision will be implemented from Monday midnight. 

The Central government has handed over the 'Z category' security cover of Union Minister Chirag Paswan to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The security was earlier handled by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). The CRPF will take over the security from the SSB in the next few days.

With each passing day, significant details continue to emerge in connection to the brutal murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique. After initial reports surfaced linking the Lawrence Bishnoi gang to Siddique's murder, after two of the prime accused confirmed their connection. Now, another important detail regarding the gang's involvement has come to light during the Mumbai Police investigation.

Two IndiGo flights had received a bomb threat, an Indigo spokesperson on Monday said. 

Indian Railways sources on Monday said its control room received a bomb threat in Mumbai-Howrah Mail, and as a precautionary measure, the train was stopped at Jalgaon station. The Indian Railways said no suspicious object was found inside the train even after proper checking. After it was confirmed that it was a fake call, the train proceeded towards the destination, the Central Railway said. 

An Air India flight that took off from Mumbai for New York was diverted to Delhi following a security concern arising from a bomb threat. After the bomb scare, the diverted flight landed at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. The aircraft is currently stationed at the airport.

Amid escalating assassination attempts against the Republican candidate for the US Presidential Elections, Donald Trump, US authorities reported on Sunday (October 13) the arrest of a Nevada man, who was later released the same day on $5,000 bail. A large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from his possession. The suspect was scheduled to attend the former president's rally in Los Angeles but was stopped by deputies assigned to the location.

The police sources said investigating officials suspect that the shooters were instructed to target both NCP leader Baba Siddique and his MLA son Zeeshan Siddique. The NCP leader (66) was shot dead by three assailants at Kher Nagar in Mumbai's Bandra area just outside his son Zeeshan's office on Saturday night. He was rushed to the Lilavati Hospital where he was declared dead. On the day of the incident, Zeeshan left the office minutes before his father's arrival.

Amid the ongoing fast-unto-death protest by the junior medics in West Bengal, the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA), a body representing Resident Doctors' Associations (RDAs) across India, called for a nationwide shutdown of elective services in hospitals from Monday.
