    Woman dies under suspicious circumstances, kin allege dowry harassment

    (PTI) A woman died under suspicious circumstances in the Badshahpur area following which her relatives held a protest here and alleged that she was harassed by her in-laws for dowry. Based on their complaint, an FIR was registered against the woman's husband Bhagat Singh and in-laws at Badshahpur police station, officials said on Monday.

    5 killed in separate road accidents in Ghaziabad

    Three people, including a woman, died here as a speeding ambulance hit the two motorcycles they were on, police said on Monday. Superintendent of Police (City) Nipun Agarwal said Manmohan (34), Rishipal (32), and Raj Kumari (54) were travelling on two bikes. They were hit by the ambulance near Sidharth Vihar on Sunday night.

The first phase has been developed at a cost of Rs 316 crore, Chouhan said after inspecting the completed works.

    A tropical storm slammed southwestern Japan with rainfall and winds Monday, leaving one person dead and another missing, as it swerved north toward Tokyo.     Mangaluru Dasara celebrations from Sep 26

    Odisha BJP leader Bishnu Charan Sethi no more

    Senior Odisha BJP leader Bishnu Charan Sethi passed away on Monday at a state-run hospital, where he was undergoing treatment for kidney-related ailments. He was 61. The deputy leader in assembly was admitted to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar on August 16. "He had developed lung infection and suffered brain haemorrhage. However, the end came due to acute cardiac failure," AIIMS-Bhubaneswar Superintendent S N Mohanth told reporters.

    Retd Delhi Police constable held for extortion

    A recently retired Delhi Police head constable was arrested for allegedly impersonating a senior police officer to extort money from a man in Rohini, officials said. Accused Jai Bhagwan (60) retired from service on August 31, they said. The matter came to light on Saturday when the victim approached South Rohini police station alleging that he received multiple calls from a man who introduced himself as Samaypur Badli Station House Officer and later as South Rohini SHO, police said.
