Four persons were arrested here for kidnapping and assaulting a man over personal enmity, police said on Monday. According to the police, the incident happened in Farukhnagar police station area on Saturday around 8 pm when four persons kidnapped a warehouse caretaker named Jeevanlal.

A police constable on duty sustained injuries on Monday when a man attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon in Rajsamand district, officials said. The accused was identified as Gajendra Singh, they said.

The death toll in the landslide that struck a railway construction camp at Tupul in Manipur's Noney district rose to 47 on Monday as five more bodies were retrieved from under the debris on the fifth day of the search and rescue operations, officials said.

Three persons, including a six-month-old child, were killed after being hit by a truck in Pirangut area on the outskirts of Pune city of Maharashtra on Sunday evening, police said. Prima facie, the brakes of the truck failed, which led to the accident near Lavale intersection, they said.

Two youths died and another three were injured on Sunday when a car mowed down them on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) road while they were running as part of their training to join the Indian Army, police said.
