    Install a solar roof top panel, get subsidies within 30 days

    It will be now easier for any household to install a roof top solar panel and get the government approved subsidies within 30 days.Under the solar roof top scheme, the government has decided to ease the process and give more liberty to the households who are ready to install roof-top solar panels.

    The Union Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy reviewed the progress of the Roof Top Scheme and gave directions for simplifying the Roof Top Scheme, so that the people are able to access it easily.

    Army Chief visits Bhopal, reviews operational preparedness

    Army chief Gen Manoj Mukund Naravane visited the force's establishment in Bhopal and reviewed operational preparedness and on the reforms being undertaken towards transforming the formation into a modern, cohesive, lean and agile warfighting force, officials said on Friday.

    Gen Naravane, who was on two-day visit, was accompanied by Lt Gen JS Nain, Southern Army Commander. The Army chief was briefed by the Sudarshan Chakra Corps Commander and other commanders on operational preparedness. He was appreciative of the formation's high levels of operational preparedness despite the restrictions imposed by Covid-19 pandemic.

    Under-barrel grenade launcher, RDX seized in Punjab

    Thwarting a possible terror attack ahead of the Republic Day, Punjab Police have recovered a 40mm under-barrel grenade launcher (UBGL) with two 40mm compatible grenades, 3.79 kg RDX, nine electrical detonators and two sets of timer devices for IEDs from Gurdaspur, said Inspector General of Police (Border Range) Mohinish Chawla on Friday.

    The UBGL is a short-range grenade launching area weapon with an effective range of 150 metres and it could be detrimental to the VVIP security as well. The recovery was made on the disclosure of Malkeet Singh, a resident of Gazikot village in Gurdaspur district, who was arrested by the police on Thursday.

    Karnataka to take call on reopening schools in Bengaluru on Jan 29

    The Karnataka government will take a call on reopening of schools in Bengaluru on January 29, Education Minister B.C. Nagesh said on Friday after attending a high-level committee meeting in the city. Talking to reporters, he said that barring Bengaluru, schools will continue to operate across the state.

    "We are considering one school as a unit. Assistant commissioners, district health officers and the tehsildars will take a call on closure of schools in other parts of the state. If fewer Covid cases are reported, that particular school will be closed for three days, if the numbers are more, the school will be closed for seven days," he explained.

    Andhra government employees to go on strike from Feb 7

    The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet on Friday approved implementation of the Pay Revision Commission (PRC) report even as the government employees decided to go on strike from February 7 opposing the 23 per cent pay revision.

    The Cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy gave its nod to implement Government Order (GO) relating to PRC, despite the ongoing protest by employees, who alleged that revised pay scales would result in reduction of their present salaries.

    The Cabinet also approved enhancing the retirement age of government employees from 60 years to 62 years. It also decided to provide jobs on compassionate grounds for families of those government employees who died of Covid-19.

    Karnataka: Bommai thanks PM for advance installment of tax devolution of Rs 3,467.62 cr

    Expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharamam for releasing an advance instalment of tax devolution of Rs 3,467.62 crore, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday said this will aid economic growth of the state. In a series of tweets, Bommai said the assistance came at a time when the state was battling the third wave of COVID-19.

    "Government of India released an advance instalment of tax devolution of Rs. 3,467.62 Cr for Karnataka. Out of this, 1,733.81 Cr is regular January 2022 instalment & 1733.81 Cr is advance instalment. I extend thanks on behalf of people of karnataka to PM @narendramodi ji and FM @nsitharaman ji," Bommai tweeted.

    He further tweeted, "This will help drive expenditure in key sectors, strengthen demand and aid economic growth in Karnataka. Especially when State is facing third wave of COVID, the advance instalment is a welcome relief."

    Stray dogs kill three-year-old girl in MP village

    A three-year-old girl was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs at Padlia village in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh, police said on Friday. The incident took place on Thursday evening when the toddler was playing at a farm in the village, located around seven kms from the district headquarters, a police official said. "The girl was playing with other children when a pack of stray dogs suddenly attacked her. On hearing her screams, her parents, who were working nearby, rushed to scene. But by the time they shooed away the dogs, they had left the child bleeding and severely injured," he said. The girl, identified as Nandini, was rushed to the district hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, in-charge of the police post B R Pal said.

    Arms recovered from factory at Mathura village

     A large numbers of arms were recovered from a factory unearthed at Daulatpur village in the Goverdhan area here, police said on Thursday. “Eight country-made pistols, one gun, a large number of partially made arms and 16 live cartridges were recovered,” SSP Gaurav Grover said. He said in a drive against criminals, material used in the making of arms was also recovered from the village. An accused has been identified as Tahir, who is on the run.

    Mumbai: Three held for supplying drugs to college students

    Three people have been arrested here for allegedly supplying drugs to youngsters and college students, police said on Thursday. Kamaluddin Sheikh alias Kamalu (22), Nadeem Zafar Sheikh (23) and Hafiz Atik Sheikh alias Babu (27), all residents of suburban Govandi, were arrested on Wednesday, said an official. Assistant inspector Navnath Kale had got a tip-off that three people were going to deliver MD or ecstasy pills to some youngsters in Govandi.
    A trap was laid and 52 grams of MD was seized from the trio, the official said. They were booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and probe is on, he added.
