    Maharashtra records 205 Covid-19 cases, zero deaths

    Maharashtra on Friday recorded 205 new coronavirus infections but zero pandemic-related deaths, the health department said. The state's COVID-19 case tally rose to 78,78,801, while death toll remained unchanged at 1,47,845. The state now has 1,109 active cases. Maharashtra had recorded 233 new cases and zero fatality on Thursday.

    Traffic violators in Gurugram can soon pay fines on spot, thus eliminating the need to visit the Traffic Tower- the traffic police office. The traffic police here have tied up with State Bank of India (SBI), which will provide 230 card swiping machines for on spot payment of fines, officials said.

    Bricks thrown in Jahangirpuri; police says no communal issue

    Two men on Friday evening allegedly threw bricks in northwest Delhi’s Jahangirpuri’s D-block area, police said. Arvind Singh, 28, called police around 8.15 pm saying that two men -- Churri and DJ -- were taking drink in the area and when they were asked not to, they threw 3-4 bricks in the street and ran away, Deputy Commissioner of Police (northwest) Usha Rangnani said.

    A senior assistant loco pilot (ALP) of the Central Railway risked his life to reset the alarm chain knob of an express train, which had halted on a river bridge near here, an official said on Friday. The Central Railway tweeted a video of the incident that took place between Titwala and Khadavali, about 80 km from the city, on Thursday, and appealed to passengers not to needlessly pull alarm chains in trains.

    A 28-year-old woman committed suicide by jumping into a well, along with her three minor daughters in a village in Barmer district on Friday, police said. All four were found dead in a well in Akdada village, they said.

    Gurugram heist: Gangster Lagarpuria apprehended by Interpol in Dubai

    Gangster Vikas Lagarpuria, the alleged mastermind of a Rs 30 crore heist is Gurugram, was apprehended by Interpol in Dubai, an official said here on Friday. Efforts are on to bring him back, the official said. "Our crime unit and the STF have also started the procedure to take gangster Lagarpuria on production warrant in the case of the multi-crore heist for questioning," said Preet Pal Singh Sangwan, ACP, Crime.
