SIT to probe student leader Anish Khan's death: Mamata Banerjee
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday said that a special investigation team (SIT) will be formed to probe student leader Anish Khan's "mysterious" death that has sparked widespread protests by opposition parties. Banerjee, who also holds the Home (Police) portfolio, said that the SIT will submit its report to her within 15 days. She also claimed that the former Left leader, who later joined the Indian Secular Front, used to keep in touch with her party, the Trinamool Congress.

Last rites of Nagaur gang-rape victim conducted after talks between family, govt officials
The last rites of a 35-year-old gang-rape victim were performed on Monday in Rajasthan's Nagaur district after talks between the family and administrative officials over compensation amount reached a consensus, officials said. An official said the government has given a recommendation for financial compensation to the family under the SC/ST Act, handing the case over to the CID-Crime Branch and providing a job to a dependent.

PM Modi wishes Queen Elizabeth II speedy recovery after she tests positive for Covid
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday wished Britain's Queen Elizabeth II a speedy recovery after she tested positive for COVID-19. The Buckingham Palace said she has tested positive for the infection and is experiencing "mild cold-like symptoms".
"I wish Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth a speedy recovery and pray for her good health," Modi tweeted.
The 95-year-old monarch remains at her Windsor Castle residence and is expected to carry out light duties over the next few days.
"She will continue to receive medical attention and will follow all the appropriate guidelines," a Buckingham Palace statement said.
