    Fake customs officials swindle man of Rs 4.15 lakh outside Delhi airport

    A 53-year-old man, who works as a labourer in Saudi Arabia, was allegedly cheated of more than Rs 4 lakh in foreign currency outside the Indira Gandhi International Airport here by two persons posing as Customs department officials, police said Tuesday.
    According to the FIR, Mohammad Suleman, a native of Rajasthan's Ajmer, landed at the Delhi airport early on Sunday morning from Saudi Arabia.

    Several parts of Rajasthan receive light to moderate rain

     Light to moderate rainfall drenched many parts of Rajasthan while a few places recorded heavy rainfall in the 24 hours ended at 8.30 am on Tuesday, the Met office said.
    Sojat in Pali received the highest rainfall at 10 cm. Malpura in Tonk received 9 cm of rainfall, followed by Chidwa in Jhunjhunu at 8 cm, it said.

    Filipino foreign secretary Manalo on 4-day visit to India

    Boosting bilateral cooperation in areas of maritime security, trade and investment, health and tourism will be high on agenda during Filipino Foreign Secretary Enrique A Manalo's four-day visit to India from Tuesday.
    The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said Manalo's visit will provide an opportunity to comprehensively review bilateral relations between India and Philippines and to explore ways to further deepen and strengthen them.
    External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Manalo will co-chair the fifth meeting of India-Philippines joint commission on bilateral cooperation (JCBC) on June 29.
    The secretary of foreign affairs of the Philippines is visiting India at the invitation of Jaishankar.

    5 arrested in Pragati Maidan robbery case

     Five people have been arrested in connection with the gunpoint robbery of a delivery agent and his associates inside the Pragati Maidan tunnel, police said on Tuesday.
    CCTV footage received by the Delhi Police showed four motorcycle-borne men intercepted a car and looted about Rs 2 lakh from the delivery agent of Omiya Enterprises, Chandni Chowk, and his associate on Saturday. The incident happened when they were going towards Gurugram in a taxi to deliver the money.

    Delhi weather update: Light rains in Delhi

     Light rainfall was recorded in parts of Delhi early Tuesday, and the minimum temperature dropped to 24.5 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal.
    An official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the city received 5.6 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours ending at 8:30 am on Tuesday.
    The relative humidity stood at 94 per cent at 8:30 am.

    Rupee appreciates 8 paise to 81.96 against US dollar

    The rupee recovered 8 paise to 81.96 against the US dollar in the early trade on Tuesday after gains in domestic equities and a weak greenback in overseas markets.
    The domestic currency opened higher at 82.02 against the dollar at the interbank foreign exchange market. It moved in a tight range of 81.95 to 82.02 in the early trade.

     Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty advanced in early trade on Tuesday helped by buying in index majors HDFC twins and Infosys amid a mixed trend in Asian markets.
    The 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 235.52 points to 63,205.52 in early trade. The NSE Nifty advanced 72.4 points to 18,763.60.

    Boulder crashes on bypass road in Thane; no casualty, traffic affected

     A boulder crashed on the Mumbra bypass road in Maharashtra's Thane district, affecting vehicular movement on the route, a civic official said on Tuesday.
    No one was injured in the incident which took place at around 11.30 pm on Monday when the boulder crashed near a temple on the bypass, Thane Municipal Corporation's disaster management cell chief Yasin Tadvi said.
    Traffic on the Mumbra bypass was affected till Tuesday morning.

    Militant killed in encounter in J-K’s Kulgam

     An unidentified militant was killed in an encounter with security forces on Tuesday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district, police said. They said one security personnel was injured in the operation.
    "01 local #terrorist neutralised. Identification and affiliation being ascertained. Incriminating material including arms and ammunition recovered. Search going on. Further details shall follow," the Kashmir Zone Police said in a tweet.

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Tuesday visit Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal, where he will flag off five Vande Bharat trains, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said. After arriving, Modi will head to Rani Kamalapati railway station from where he will physically and virtually flag off a set of five Vande Bharat Express trains connecting important cities in different parts of the country.
    This is for the first time so many Vande Bharat trains will be launched in one day. Two of them will be for Madhya Pradesh, where the Assembly polls are due by the year-end.

    Fire at restaurant in Thane; no casualty

    A fire broke out at a restaurant in Maharashtra's Thane city on Tuesday morning, a civic official said.
    There was so far no report of any casualty in the blaze which erupted at around 5.30 am at the restaurant located in Panchpakhadi area, Thane Municipal Corporation's disaster management cell chief Yasin Tadvi said.
