India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert in Trivandrum and Kollam districts today and yellow alert in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Alapuzha, and Idukki districts.

New Delhi: The skies over the national capital were a smoky grey on Tuesday as the sun struggled to shine through the haze with the air quality deteriorating and slipping into the "severe" category in several places in the city.

The repair work on minor damage detected on the railway track between Potul and Lasur will slow down trains on the Mumbai-Nanded-Hyderabad route, PTI reported quoting a railway official. The repair work will affect normal rail traffic on busy Mumbai-Hyderabad route.

A local farmer detected damage in the welding of the railway track and informed railway officials at Potul and Lasur stations in Maharahtra's Aurangabad district on Tuesday morning.
