    Boy injured in leopard attack in Mumbai's Aarey Colony; eighth such incident in area in month

    A 14-year-old boy was injured in an attack by a leopard at Aarey Colony in suburban Goregaon, police said on Saturday. This is the eighth such attack in the area by a leopard within a month, they said.

    "The latest incident took place around 9 pm on Friday at unit number 13 of Aarey Colony, when the boy, Darshan Dravid, was walking with his friends in the area," a police official said.

    After being attacked by the leopard, Darshan cried for help and his friends rushed to rescue him. The feline left him and disappeared into the forest, he said, adding that the boy suffered injuries on his neck, mouth and head. Dravid was taken to a local hospital, from where he was shifted to Jogeshwari Trauma Care Hospital for further treatment, the official said.

    Petrol, diesel prices hiked for fifth consecutive day

    Petrol and diesel prices were hiked across the country for the fifth consecutive day on Saturday, ranging from 26 paise to 35 paise. 

    In Delhi, the petrol price was hiked by 30 paise per litre, taking it to Rs 104.23. In Kolkata, the price of diesel as of Saturday is 95.58 per litre, up by 35 paise.

    Whereas, the prices of petrol and diesel in Chennai is Rs 101.27 and 96.93 per litre, respectively, up by 26 paise.

    36,130 students complete admission process under DU first cut-off list

    With 36,130 students completing their admission process under the first cut-off list, a little over half of the seats at Delhi University colleges have been filled. The university had received a total of 60,904 applications under the first cut-off list, which was announced on October 1.

    Eight colleges had pegged their cut-offs at 100 per cent for 10 courses in the first list. The process of admission for this list ended at 11:59 pm on Friday, the last day to make payments. Till this time, 36,130 students had paid their fees, according to official data.

    There are 70,000 seats at colleges of the varsity for undergraduate courses. The second cut-off list will be released by the university later on Saturday with principals warning that the decline in the asking marks won't be more than 0.5 per cent to one per cent.
