    J-K: 12 detained as place of worship 'vandalised' in Reasi

    A place of worship was allegedly vandalised by unidentified people in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district, triggering protests on Sunday by locals belonging to both the Hindu and Muslim communities, officials said. At least 12 people have been detained as police have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT), while Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Paul Mahajan has assured the protesters that stern action will be taken against the culprits.

    The place of worship was found vandalised by a visitor in a village in the Dharmari area on Saturday evening, sparking tension and spontaneous protests, with the protesters demanding that the culprits be identified and punished. Members of both the Hindu and Muslim communities jointly staged the protests and said such incidents were a deliberate attempt to create a rift among them to harm the age-old brotherhood in the district.

    Six injured after water tank collapsed in Mathura's Krishna Vihar Colony

    A water tank collapsed in Kishan Vihar Colony in Mathura on Sunday evening. As many as six people have been injured in the incident. BJP leader and former minister Srikant Sharma visited the site. He said that an operation is underway to save those who are trapped inside the debris.

    NIA arrests 2 men for 'radicalising' youngsters in TN, 'promoting' Indian laws as anti-Islamic

    The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday arrested two men, associated with the international pan-Islamist organisation Hizb-ut-Tahrir, for allegedly radicalising youngsters in Tamil Nadu. The arrested men have been identified as Abdul Rehman alias Abdul Rahman and Mujibur Rehman alias Mujibur Rahman Altham Sahib, both from Thanjavur district, a statement issued by the NIA said.

    The duo, who were arrested following extensive searches at 10 locations in five districts of the southern state, are members of the Hizb-ut-Tahrir, an international pan-Islamist and fundamentalist organisation that is working to re-establish the Islamic caliphate and enforce the constitution written by the outfit's founder, Taqi al-Din al-Nabhani, the NIA said.

    All India Shia Personal Law Board writes to PM Modi ahead of Muharram

    The All India Shia Personal Law Board has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and urged him to give directions to the state for better arrangements in the upcoming mourning month of Muharram.

    In the letter, the board highlighted the significance of Muharram and the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain and his family, including a six-month-old child in the field of Karbala to save humanity and humanity. 

    The letter further read that Muharram is starting from 8 July 2024, where along with 7-8 crore Shia Muslim community spread across India, people of different religions will take out processions and tazias. The Shia board further requested PM Modi to issue instructions to the state governments for its security arrangements and better arrangements.

    Technical study of Delhi airport's T1 likely to be completed in 1 month: Official

    The detailed technical study of the Delhi airport's Terminal 1 (T1), which is shut for now, is expected to be completed in a month and depending on the findings, the decision will be taken on recommencing operations at the terminal, a senior government official said on Sunday. All flights from T1 have been shifted to Terminal 2 (T2) and Terminal 3 (T3), and all of them were being operated, the official said. Notably, a canopy at the old departure forecourt of T1 partially collapsed on June 28 amid heavy rains resulting in the death of a person and causing injuries to at least six people.

    Bareilly violence: UP police arrests 'masterminds' after brief encounter

    A police team on Suday arrested two 'masterminds' of the firing and arson incident in the Izzatnagar, after a brief encounter. The incident occurred on June 22 when violence broke out between two groups over the possession of a vacant plot. One of the accused, Rajiv Rana, set two JCB machines on fire, which were parked near the disputed land, next to another accused, Aditya Upadhyay's marble shop, police said earlier.

    DMRC fourth phase expansion: Over 50 pc work complete on all three corridors
