    The US has appointed Indian-American career diplomat Atul Keshap, an old India-hand at the state department, as the country’s Charge’d Affairs in Delhi.

    “Ambassador Keshap’s appointment will reinforce the close US partnership with the Government and people of India, demonstrated by our collaboration to overcome global challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic,” the US State Department said in a statement on Tuesday.

    Potato imports from Bhutan allowed without licence till June 2022

    The government has permitted imports of potatoes from Bhutan without licence till June 2022, a move which would help boost domestic supply of the kitchen staple. The imports were earlier allowed without licence only up to January 31, 2021.

    "Import of potatoes...is allowed from Bhutan without license upto June 30, 2022," the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has said in a notification.

    Sensex drops 186 points on profit-booking; Nifty ends below 15,800

    Equity benchmark Sensex declined 186 points on Tuesday, tracking losses in ICICI Bank, Kotak Bank and Infosys as investors booked profits at higher levels.

    The 30-share BSE index ended 185.93 points or 0.35 per cent lower at 52,549.66. Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty tumbled 66.25 points or 0.42 per cent to 15,748.45.

    Kotak Bank was the top loser in the Sensex pack, shedding over 1 per cent, followed by ICICI Bank, Tech Mahindra, Bajaj Auto, Mahindra and Mahindra, SBI and Axis Bank. On the other hand, PowerGrid, HUL, NTPC, Dr Reddy’s and Nestle India were among the gainers.
