    Rahul Gandhi write to Rishi Sunak after UK election results

    Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Saturday extended commiserations to the UK's Conservative Party leader Rishi Sunak on the party's recent electoral defeat, saying victories and setbacks are inevitable part of democracy and "we must take both in our stride".

    In his letter to Sunak, Gandhi hailed the former British prime minister's dedication to public service and commitment to the British people. "I would like to extend my commiserations on the recent electoral outcome. Victories and setbacks are both an inevitable part of the journey in a democracy and we must take both in our stride," the Congress leader said.

    Student stabs coaching institute teacher in Assam

    A class 11 student stabbed a teacher at a coaching institute (in Sivasagar) today. The incident took place around 3.15 pm. The teacher was taken to the hospital where he was declared brought dead. We have apprehended the student and he is in our custody. We have visited the crime scene and collected the evidence," says Moidul Islam, Additional SP of Sivasagar district.

    CBI arrests seven including, govt officials accused in bribery case

    The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested seven accused including five Public Servants namely the Divisional Railway Manager(DRM), Sr. Divisional Finance Manager (Sr. DFM), then Sr. Divisional Engineer (Sr. DEN) Coordination, Office Superintendent, Account Assistant of South Central Railways, Guntakal  Division (Andhra Pradesh) and two private persons namely Director of a  Bangalore based firm (Private Person) &  another private person in a case of bribery of Rs11 lakh & jewellery taken/ given for showing favours in railway tenders etc.

    "LoP is Constitutional post, expect all to follow parliamentary dignity": Om Birla

    Lok Sabha Speaker and BJP MP from Kota, Om Birla, said on Saturday that the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha is a constitutional post and said he expected all to follow parliamentary dignity.

    He was referring to Rahul Gandhi, who came under fire from the leaders of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party for his alleged anti-Hindu remarks made in the Lok Sabha.

    Former Pakistan PM Abbasi launches new political party “to change the system”

    Pakistan’s former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Saturday formally launched a new political party with the mission to change the system and restore respect for the Constitution of the country.
    The main slogan of the Awaam Pakistan Party is: ‘Badlien gaen nizam’ (we will change the system) and its membership is open to anyone and everyone who can contribute to the development of the country.
    Abbasi, 65, served as a prime minister from August 2017 to May 2018 when the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif was disqualified by the Supreme Court.

    Hathras stampede: Prime accused Devprakash Madhukar sent to 14-day judicial custody

    Devprakash Madhukar, the main accused in the July 2 Hathras satsang stampede has been sent to 14-day judicial custody. He was arrested from Delhi by Uttar Pradesh Police which claimed he was recently contacted by some political parties and suspected that self-styled godman Bhole Baba's events were "funded" by a political party. Two more suspects -- Ramprakash Shakya, 61, and Sanju Yadav, 33, were held in Hathras in connection with the stampede that left 121 people dead, according to the police.

    Swati Maliwal assault case: Court extends Bibhav Kumar's judicial custody till July 16

    Delhi's Tis Hazari court on Saturday extended the judicial custody of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's former aide Bibhav Kumar for the next 10 days in the alleged assault case of Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal. He was produced through video conferencing (vc) after the expiry of judicial custody. He was remanded to judicial custody on May 31 after his interrogation in the case.

    Five Naxalites surrender in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district

    Five Naxalites surrendered before the security forces in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district on Saturday, police said. Two of them together carried a reward of Rs 3 lakh on their heads.

    The Naxalites turned themselves in before senior officials of the police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) citing disappointment with atrocities committed by the Maoists on tribals and the "inhuman and hollow" Maoist ideology, an official said.

    Two BSF personnel killed in separate road accidents in J-K

    Two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, including an assistant sub-inspector, were killed in separate road accidents in Kathua and Udhampur districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, officials said. ASI Parshotam Singh (58), a resident of Himachal Pradesh, lost his life, while two of his colleagues were rescued when their vehicle skidded off the road and fell into Ujh canal near Rajbagh in Kathua district, they said.

    Soldier killed in gunfight with terrorists in J-K's Kulgam

    A soldier was killed in an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on Saturday, officials said. They said security personnel were conducting a cordon-and-search operation in Modergam village of the south Kashmir district when the terrorists opened fire at them. The officials said the soldier of the Indian Army sustained injuries in the exchange of fire and died. The operation is underway and further details are awaited, they added.

    Opposition Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT) in Maharashtra have raised question marks over the Eknath Shinde-led dispensation's announcement of giving Rs 11 crore reward to the T20 World Cup-winning Indian team, and alleged that by doing so, the government wants to pat itself on the back. The opposition parties said that while they were proud of the cricketers' achievement, there was no need to give Rs 11 crore from the state coffers and asked the chief minister to pay the amount from his own pocket.

    In a first video statement after the July 2 stampede at a satsang in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras which claimed the lives of over 120 people, Surajpal, also known as 'Bhole Baba', said that he is “deeply saddened” after the incident and expressed confidence that the “miscreants” will not be spared. He said that he has urged the members of the committee to stand with the bereaved families and the injured. “I am deeply saddened after the incident of July 2. May God give us the strength to bear this pain. Please keep faith in the government and the administration. I have faith that anyone who created the chaos would not be spared... Through my lawyer AP Singh, I have requested the members of the committee to stand with the bereaved families and the injured and help them throughout their lives,” Surajpal said.
