Delhi | Indian Army completes around 80% of the restoration of Bund at the I&FC regulator near the WHO Building. The work is to be completed tonight. Restoration of the collapsed regulator to start thereafter. Army also completes the clearing of silt and sludge that had jammed 5 gates of ITO Barrage. Delhi LG is still present on the site, overseeing the works and encouraging workmen.

Rains lashed Mumbai and its suburbs on Friday morning after almost a week of subdued rainfall activity, which led to waterlogging at some places and resulted in slowing down of traffic, officials said. Railway authorities claimed that suburban trains were running as per their normal schedule, but commuters complained that there was a delay of around 15 minutes.

The rupee appreciated 12 paise to 81.96 against the US dollar in early trade on Friday, as a strong opening in domestic equity markets and a weaker greenback against major rivals overseas strengthened investor sentiments. However, strengthening crude prices in international markets capped the gains in the domestic unit, forex traders said.

The Uttar Pradesh government has removed the 'Y'-category security provided to Samajwadi Party National General Secretary and former Minister Mohd. Azam Khan, an official said. A senior Home department official said that the state level security committee constituted to provide security to ministers, former ministers and VVIPs had said in its report that no justification has been found for maintaining Y-category security of Azam Khan.

Fourteen people were killed in rain-related incidents across Uttar Pradesh in the past 24 hours, even as the Ganga was flowing above the danger level in Badaun and Yamuna above danger level at Mavi in Muzaffarnagar. Seven people died after lightning struck them, four drowned and three were killed in other related incidents, said the Relief Commissioner.
