Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Saturday said it has been 50 years since the Emergency was imposed, but the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) continues to look at the past instead of focusing on the future. Two persons were killed and 25 injured when a bus skidded off the road and plunged into a 200-feet-deep gorge in hilly Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, officials said. The accident took place near Bhatyas at around 10.25 am when the private mini bus was on its way to Thathri from Bhalessa, the officials said.

Three persons were killed and 14 injured on Saturday after a bus in which they were travelling hit a truck from behind in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, police said. The accident took place around 5.30 am on National Highway 18 near Budikhmari Square under the Betanati Police Station limits, when the bus with around 20 pilgrims on board rammed into the commercial vehicle, a senior officer said.

In a major step, the Ministry of Home Affairs has amended the rules of Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act to give more power to the Lieutenant Governor. The MHA notified the amended Rules under Section 55 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019. Sources said that "only the transaction of Business Rules have been amended".

Police in Maharashtra’s Thane district on Saturday registered a case against five persons for trying to extort money from a developer and making casteist slurs, an official said.

The Enforcement Directorate has attached assets of various people, including the husband of an IPS officer, in connection with a money laundering investigation linked to an alleged Income Tax refund fraud case of Rs 263 crore in Maharashtra, the agency said.
