    Human remains found in fridge of abandoned house in Kerala

    Human remains, including a skull and bones, were found inside an abandoned house near Chottanikkara in Ernakulam district on Monday, police said. The remains were found stored in a fridge within the house, which has reportedly remained unoccupied for two decades.

    Woman, daughter escape rhino attack during safari in Kaziranga; driver suspended

    A woman and her daughter had a close shave in Assam's Kaziranga National Park (KNP) when they fell off a safari vehicle with rhinos in close proximity, an official said on Monday. The driver was suspended and an enquiry was ordered, DFO and Deputy Director of the KNP Arun Vignesh said. The incident happened when the driver accelerated and took a sharp turn after seeing two rhinos nearby, he said adding that action will be taken on the basis of the enquiry report.

    Prashant Kishor released from jail: Police

    Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor was released from jail on Monday evening, hours after he was sent to judicial custody upon refusal of bail, the conditions of which were initially dubbed by him ‘unreasonable’. It was not immediately known whether Kishor accepted the bail conditions imposed by a court here or whether the court revised its order.

    Youth dead, one injured as motorcycle skids in Goregaon

    A 26-year-old man died and another was injured in a road accident in Goregaon West on Monday, a police official said. The accident took place at 6:30 am when the motorcycle rider braked suddenly after spotting a garbage disposal truck in front of him, the official said.

    President Droupadi Murmu on Monday condoled the loss of lives in the Chhattisgarh Naxal attack and said that the country is determined to completely eradicate Naxalism. Eight jawans of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and a civilian driver were killed after the Naxals blew up their vehicle with a powerful improvised explosive device (IED) in the state's Bijapur district on Monday.

    Hyderabad: ED books, raids 'conman' who used its name to extort money

    The Enforcement Directorate has registered a money laundering case against a "conman" who allegedly tried to extort money from people, facing action by the federal probe agency, by claiming his links with officers. The Hyderabad zonal office of the ED searched the premises of the alleged fraudster, Sandeep Desai, on January 3 and seized multiple SIM cards and mobile phones, the agency said on Monday.

    A 40-year-old man was arrested in Kashimira in Thane district on Monday for allegedly stalking and harassing a teenage girl, a police official said. He used to follow the 15-year-old girl routinely and subject her to harassment, the Kashimira police station official said.

    Four tourists fell into the frozen Sela Lake in Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh, while attempting to walk on its icy surface, an official said on Monday. However, the district official said they were safely pulled out of the icy water. The incident took place at the scenic lake, located at an altitude of 14,000 feet on Sunday, when the four tourists from Assam, including one woman, ventured onto the frozen surface despite clear risks.

    Four persons were killed and three others injured on Monday when a truck collided with an SUV in Madhya Pradesh's Sagar district amid dense fog, police said.
