Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi reached the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to meet those injured in violence on the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tweets, "...I unequivocally condemn the events of today. This govt, regardless of what has been said the past few weeks, wants universities to be safe spaces for all students".
AIIMS Trauma Centre official: 18 people from Jawaharlal Nehru University (#JNU) have come to AIIMS Trauma Centre with complaints of bleeding in the head, abrasions among others. Investigations are underway.
JNUTA is alleging that they are not being allowed to talk to the media personnel.
Salman Kurshid said: "Outsiders attacked students in JNU."

Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal said: "I am so shocked to know about the violence at JNU. Students attacked brutally. Police should immediately stop violence and restore peace. How will the country progress if our students will not be safe inside university campus?"
"Spoke to Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and urged him to direct police to restore order. He has assured that he is closely monitoring the situation and taking all necessary steps," he added.
Tension was on between two groups for two days. On request of Jawaharlal Nehru University Administration police has entered the campus today.
CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury said: "There is clear involvement of ABVP goons. This is a targetted attack."
Students and teachers attacked by ABVP members are being taken to AIIMS for treatment.

A 25-year-old man has been shot dead by unidentified miscreants in the Kitas village here, police said on Sunday.
The incident took place in the Ratenpuri police station area on Saturday, they said.
The victim, identified only by his first name, Rajiv, used to work at a farm here, the police said, adding that an investigation in the matter was underway.
In a separate incident, the body of a guard of Sahara City Home was found on the complex premises in Begarazpur village under the Mansurpur police station limits on Saturday, they said.
The victim was identified as Maksood (60) and the body has been sent for an autopsy, officials said.

Two Maharashtra fisheries department officials were arrested on Saturday for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe from a boat owner, said an Anti Corruption Bureau official.
Assistant Commissioner Pradeep Laxman Vats (53) and Permit Officer Shivraj Chavan (31), both posted in Malvan in Sindhudurg, had demanded Rs 5 lakh from a boat owner indulging in fishing using lead weights, said an official.
"The two officials agreed on a sum of Rs 3 lakh after negotiations. The boat owner approached ACB and a trap was laid at the Fisheries department office today. Chavan was held while taking Rs 2 lakh. Vats was arrested soon after," said ACB Superintendent of Police Mahesh Patil.
A 30-year-old man was arrested on Saturday in Ulhasnagar in Thane for allegedly killing his friend after a quarrel while having liquor, police said.
Kishan Swamy hacked to death his friend Sagar Wasvani at 3am after a drunken brawl and then surrendered at Central police station, an official said.
