8. Thattekad bird sanctuary
Thattekad is a small Bird Sanctuary in the southern state of Kerala. Based in the biodiversity hotspot of the Western Ghats, Thattekad is a great place to see some rare endemic birds and is especially a good place to find frogmouth and owls. A visit to Thattekad can be combined with a visit to the hill station of Munnar.
9. Kaundinya bird sanctuary
The best time to visit this bird home is October to May. Spread over 358 square kilometres, this bird sanctuary in Andhra Pradesh plays host to birds such as Grey Pelicans, Peacocks, Painted Storks and Pied Horn bills.
10. Nal sarovar bird sanctary
Nal Sarovar bird sanctuary comprising of a huge lake and ambient marshes, is situated in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Nal Sarovar bird sanctuary is the largest wetland bird sanctuary in Gujarat, and one of the largest in India, spot birds like Flamingos, Pelicans, Spoonbills, Avocets, Coots, Pintails, small Cormorants, small Grebes and Shovellers.
