    Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday accused the opposition of creating confusion over the Citizenship Amendment Act and spoiling the atmosphere in the national capital by misleading the people.
    Addressing an event organised by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Shah said the time is up for the Kejriwal government in Delhi and the BJP will form the next government in the national capital.
    "The opposition led by the Congress created confusion about the Citizenship Amendment Act. By misleading people on the CAA, the opposition spoiled the peaceful atmosphere of Delhi," Shah said on the recent anti CAA protests, some of which turned violent.

    The University Grants Commission (UGC) has made it mandatory for PhD students to study two new courses in publication ethics and misconduct for pre-registration course work. The decision was taken by the Commission in its recent meeting.

    "The UGC in its recent meeting approved two credit courses for awareness about publication ethics and publication misconduct to be made compulsory for all PhD students for pre-registration course work," a senior UGC official said.

    Sambit Patra slams Rahul over detention centre remarks on PM Modi

    The BJP on Thursday hit back at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his liar jibe at the prime minister, dubbing him as "joothon ka sardar" (master of lies) and saying detention camps in Assam were set up when the Congress was in power both at the Centre and the state.

    Hitting back at Rahul, BJP spokesperson Sambhit Patra said he has used objectionable language but it was too much to ask for decency in public discourse from him.

    "Rahul Gandhi is Joothon ka Sardar. The three detention centres were set up in Assam by his party which was in power both at the Centre and the state," he said.

    Minimum temperature in Delhi dips to 5°C; rains expected

    North India including national capital Delhi reeled under an intense cold wave as minimum temperature dipped to 5°C on Thursday. The maximum temperature during the day is expected to remain under 14°C. Weather news portal, Skymet predicted rain across North India due to cyclonic circulation. 

    IMD forecast for next 7 days says the minimum temperature in Delhi and adjoining region including Noidauru, Gurugram and Greater Noida is expected to remain between 4 to 5-degree Celcius. 

    IMD also issued severe weather advisory in wake of the cold wave that has gripped North India. 

    According to the IMD, the minimum temperature in Chandigarh was expected to remain between 5-6°C for the next few days with generally cloudy sky with fog and mist in the morning.

    Road Romeo arrested for stalking, harassing girl

    A 24-year-old man was arrested in Yavatmal city of Maharashtra on Wednesday for stalking and harassing a girl.​ Sumit Suresh Khandwe, the accused, was allegedly harassing the girl, who had come here for college education, for the past three months, police said.

    On December 24, he stopped her on the road and asked her to sit in his car.

    Some passers-by came to the girl's help and beat up Khandwe. A video of the incident went viral on social media. He was then handed over to Awadhutwadi police station, where a case under IPC section 354-D (stalking) and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act was registered.
