Raipur: Children of the women who died after undergoing sterilisation surgeries at the government-organised camps in Bilaspur district last week would be adopted by the state government.
The government will make fixed deposits of Rs 2 lakh each in the name these children, bear expenses of their education, and provide them free medical care at Apollo Hospital, Bilaspur till the age of 18 years.
The decisions were taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Raman Singh at his official residence here today.
Each of these children would get a health card, which will enable him or her to avail of services at Apollo Hospital, Bilaspur till the age of 18.
Thirteen women died after undergoing surgeries on November 8 and 10. As many as 122 women are still undergoing treatment at various hospitals in Bilaspur.
