Indore: Aiming to save Hindu girls from falling in the trap of ‘Love Jihad', Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Indore(3), Usha Thakure, has asked party workers to ensure that no non-Hindu youths are allowed to take part in the Garba celebrations during the Navaratri festival.
Thakur said that she will also write to all Garba organisers in the her constituency urging them to cross check the background of each individual and ensure that he/she belongs to the Hindu religion.
“I am going to write a letter to all event organisers. I will request them to collect the identity cards of each individual and cross check their background before allowing them to take part in Garba,” she said.
She also appealed to girls not to wear low-waist Ghagra and backless dress during the time of celebrations.
“I doubt, they will take part in Garba to lure Hindu girls by changing their identity. I don't want Garba to be seen as an opportunity by them,” she said
Thakur, also a convener of Samagra Kranti Chetna Manch, released leaflets mentioning 11 points on maintaining discipline during the festival.
“Each participant must adhere to these 11 points before taking part in the event,” a volunteer of the outfit said.
The MLA also said that she will hold meetings in her constituency apprising girls about the contentious issue of ‘Love Jihad'.
Thakur began her political career as a municipal councillor in 1994. She is an MLA since 2003.
