Raigarh, July 30: The BJP is not owned by any family and its workers are its strength, party president Nitin Gadkari  has said.

Addressing a gathering after unveiling the statue of BJP leader Lakhiram Agarwal in Kharsiya village here  Gadkari said that only the party workers could become a Prime Minister or Chief Minister in BJP.

“BJP is governing nine states. It is the main opposition party in the Lok Sabha and has many legislators and MPs. The BJP owes its success to dedicated workers like Lakhiram Agarwal,” he said.

Gadkari said politics is an instrument to bring in social and economic changes and is also a medium of service. It is not restricted to winning elections, he said.

“The BJP's aim is to make India the most powerful and prosperous country in the world,” he added.

Gadkari said while the BJP was in favour of modernisation, it did not approve westernisation.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh announced that the government medical college being built at Raigarh would be named after Agarwal.
