New Delhi, Nov 22: Attacking the government for continued price rise in the “absence” of any concrete steps, BJP today feared that it may become a reason for the people to vent their anger in the form of violence.

“What concerns us is that the common man will not tolerate the continued price rise in the country. We will not be surprised that rising inflation will become a reason for them to resort to violence,” said BJP leader Yashwant Sinha.

Rubbishing Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee's 11-page statement on price rise tabled in the Lok sabha today, Sinha said “we dismiss the Finance Minister's statement...we are not satisfied with the government's excuses on price rise and inflation.”

He said “this government is not prepared to recognise inflation as a problem of national economy and as a problem of the common man. The government has closed its eyes and ears on the issue of inflation. What can we expect from such a government that on the first day of the session, they have tried to befool the people of the nation on the serious issue of price rise.”

Sinha, a former Finance Minister, alleged the government was simply ignoring the problem of price rise. “How can we find a solution to the problem if we continue to not even recognise the problem and simply ignore it?”

The BJP leader said “this government remains totally paralysed even today with regard to inflation. Instead of finding a solution, it is ignoring the problem.”
