Ahmedabad: BJP's farmers' wing yesterday announced that a 'Kisan Adhikar March' will be organised in New Delhi to highlight failures and anti-farmers policies of UPA government.
The decision was taken yesterday at the National Executive of Kisan Morcha in Gandhinagar, where Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was also present.
Addressing the Kisan Morcha members, its national president Om Prakash Dhankar appealed them to make the proposed march a success, BJP media cell convener Dr Harshad Patel said.
Meanwhile, state BJP president R C Faldu and BJP MP Purshottam Rupala slammed state Congress over its farmers' convention to be held today.
In a press statement, Faldu said, "With the historical success of Chief Minister-inspired Global Agriculture Summit, Congress party is shaken and frustrated."
"Confidence and faith of farmers of Gujarat in Chief Minister Narendra Modi is so strong that all efforts of Congress to misguide farmers will fail," Rupala said.
He also alleged that "Congress is spreading lies about decreasing numbers of farmers in Gujarat, as national census of 2011 has revealed that from 2001 to 2011, number of farmers in the state increased from 42.39 lakh to 47.39 lakh."
