Morigaon: The BJP Assam unit president Sidhartha Bhattacharjee today expressed concern over the state government's alleged failure to tackle the flood problem in the state and demanded Centre's intervention in this regard.
Visiting the flood ravaged Morigaon district, Bhattacharjee talking to reporters here alleged that all flood and erosion protection schemes had failed to protect people in the state from the perennial deluge.
In view of this he demanded that the Central Water Resource Department chalk out new schemes to permanently solve the flood and erosion problem of the state.
Accusing the state government of indulging in gross corruption in implementing flood control schemes, the BJP leader demanded direct intervention of the Centre to tackle the problem.
