Hingoli (Maha), Dec 7: The BJP on Tuesday continued its attack on Home Minister P Chidambaram over the 2G spectrum allocation scam, saying he should face action for his alleged role in the case.
“Former Telecom Minister A Raja is in jail in connection with the scam, and Chidambaram, the then Finance Minister, should also be made an accused,” BJP General Secretary Gopinath Munde said here.
“I am confident Chidambaram will be sent behind bars,” he added.
Munde was speaking at an election rally organised for Shiv Sena-BJP-RPI candidates contesting the Municipal Council elections here.
He said the newly-stitched alliance between Sena-BJP and Republication Party of India (RPI) will usher in far-reaching changes in the state politics in coming days.
The Deputy Leader of BJP in Lok Sabha criticised the UPA government over FDI in multi-brand retail, saying the move was aimed at “pleasing” America.
“If FDI in retail is allowed, nearly 20 crore small businessmen and traders will be rendered jobless. That's why BJP has opposed FDI in the retail sector,” he said.
