New Delhi: Senior JDU MLA Rajiv Ranjan has proposed a novel method to curb corruption.

He demanded that Bihar government should enact a new law to legalise corruption in the state.

The law should be named Right to Bribe, on the lines similar to right to information (RTI) and right to service.

He says that he was proposing this extreme legislation out of frustration arising from the inability of the Bihar government to control corruption.

Ranjan, an MLA from Islampur assembly constituency in Nalanda, argues that since the government can't rein in corruption, they should legalise it.

The MLA said that he would move a private members bill for a law to provide legal sanctity to corruption in the next session of the Bihar assembly.

The Jitan Ram Manji government was sufficiently embarrassed by Ranjan's demand and vowed to take disciplinary action against him at the earliest.

JD(U) chief whip and Bihar parliamentary affairs minister Sharvan Kumar said that the Islampur MLA had a habit of causing embarrassment to the party and government. And when disciplinary action is initiated he rushes to the JD (U) leadership for apologise.

However, this time his antics won't work, said Kumar.

Ranjan, on his part, said that threats of action will not deter him from protesting against corruption. He even announced that he's willing to do any sacrifice.

The senior Bihar MLA says that although Bihar government has declared zero tolerance towards corruption, but a recent Indian corruption survey report lists Bihar as the most corrupt state in the country.
