Bangalore: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has decided not to accept property tax payments in the form of cheques.
The decision came in view of several cheque bounce cases where the civic agency had to face a lot of difficulty in collecting property tax.
According to the new guidelines,payments will be accepted only in form of in cash, net banking options or Demand Draft.
Amount less than Rs 1000 can be paid to Revenue inspectors at ward level in cash and amount exceeding Rs 1000 should be paid at counters of following banks:
Canara Bank, Corporation Bank, HDFC Bank, IDBI, Induslnd Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Yes Bank and ING Vysya Bank branches.
Payment can also be done by credit/debit card issued by IDBI Bank, Corporation Bank, IndusInd Bank or through net banking with ICICI, AXIS, IndusInd and HDFC banks.
