Bhaderwah, Jul 31: Shops and business units remained closed in Bhaderwah town as a bandh was observed today to protest against a clash between two groups and the subsequent arrests of those involved in the incident.
Two youths were beaten by members of another group late last night leading to tension in the area, officials said.
The injured persons were hospitalised.
The arrest of three persons involved in the alleged beating of duo led to protests by the second group, they said. “The situation remains peaceful and normal in Bhaderwah town—There were no reports of any untoward incident reported from anywhere,” a police spokesman said.
Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, Minister of State for Home, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo flew to Bhadwerwah and held a meeting in which MLA Bhaderwah M Sharief Niaz, DDC Doda Mubarak Singh, DIG Ashkoor Ahmed Wani were also present.
Peace is the only path through which the desired and multifaceted growth and social development of the state can be achieved, Chand said.
