New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party has blamed Haryana's ruling party BJP for the riots in Ballabgarh's Atali village which left nearly 250 Muslim families homeless with many injured seriously.

A four-member team of AAP MLAs visited the village last week in an attempt to broker peace. In its ‘fact-finding report', AAP blamed administration for the clashes in the village.

"It (the clash between Muslims and Jats) happened entirely due to the negligence of the BJP administration,” AAP Uttam Nagar MLA Naresh Balyan told a leading daily.

“For two days, homes were burning and the police did nothing. If an SP so wishes, no (crime) can happen in a district. Since May 26, all Muslim families are staying outside their homes since they were looted and damaged," Balyan added.

AAP alleged BJP was creating another Muzaffarnagar with an eye on upcoming Panchayat polls

Meanwhile, the situation in riot-hit village is starting to cool down.

At least five persons were injured and around 15 houses gutted after a clash erupted between two communities over construction of a religious structure in Atali village in Faridabad on May 25.

A violent mob attacked the people from minority community with bricks, swords, and petrol bombs. The assailants broke into their homes and set about 20 houses on fire.

About 400 victims have been staying at a makeshift camp at Ballabhgarh police station ever since the incident took place.

Despite the scorching heat and inadequate food and water, the displaced persons have refused to return to their homes, seeking the arrest of the attackers and compensation for their burnt houses.
