Badaun (UP):  After the CBI found no evidence of murder or sexual assault in its probe into the death of the two Badaun girls, family members of the two teenage cousins today said they will move the Supreme Court and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for justice.

Piqued over the CBI report, the family members of the two girls whose bodies were found hanging from a tree in Badaun district in May, said they would petition the Supreme Court and the Prime Minister and if justice was not done they would commit suicide.

“Our girls cannot commit suicide. We will take the issue before the Supreme Court and the Prime Minister. If justice is not done then we will commit suicide,” father of one of the two girl said.

The CBI probe into the death of the two teenage cousins has concluded that they committed suicide, debunking allegations that the girls were gangraped and murdered.

“Based on around 40 scientific reports, CBI has concluded that the two minor girls in the Badaun case had not been raped and murdered as had been alleged in the FIR.  “Investigation has concluded that it is a case of suicide,” CBI spokesperson Kanchan Prasad said here today.  CBI, which took over the investigation in June, said there was no evidence of murder and sexual assault on the girls. The agency is likely to file its final report tomorrow at Badaun court.

The two cousin sisters—aged 14 and 15 -- were found hanging from a tree in Badaun district in UP in the last week of May. The incident sparked national outrage with the Samajwadi Party government in the state coming under fire on the issue of law and order situation. The CBI took over the investigation in June.
