Lucknow: Stepping up its pressure on the Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh over the gang-rape and deaths of two teenagers in Badaun, the BJP today staged protest outside chief minister Akhilesh Yadav's office in Lucknow.
Raising questions over the role of police in gang-rape and murder of two sisters in Badaun and rape cases in Azamgarh and Etawah, Bajpai demanded that FIRs should be lodged against police officers right from IG to outpost incharge.
He alleged that in its enquiry the party found that in all the three cases the accused were either having patronisation of the ruling party or they were SP workers.
Bajpai also said that in all these cases rape victims belonged either to the backward community or to the Dalit community and in all cases the role of police was suspicious.
He demanded that compensation of Rs. 25 lakh be given to the victims and their family members.
Attacking the chief minister, Mr Bajpai said that even after rape and murder of two girls he didn't find time to go to Badaun.
BJP's women workers had protested at the Mr Akhilesh's office earlier on May 30 also and had given an ultimatum to the government that if incidents of atrocities against women were not checked then they would gherao the Chief Minister's office again on June 2.
