Muktsar, Jan 10: Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal today filed his nomination from Lambi assembly constituency, with his daughter-in-law Bhatinda MP Harsmirat Kaur Badal filing nomination as a cover candidate.
Speaking to mediapersons, Badal said, the fight would be tough this time and it would not be easy for anybody to win.
Badal turned emotional and said, he was missing his wife this time becaue she used to look after all his poll campaigns.
In his affidavit, Badal has listed Rs 4.5 lakh in his bank accounts, a tractor, Rs 3 lakh worth jewellery and an annual income of Rs 32.43 lakhs.
Badal has movable assets of Rs 1.21 crore, and immovable assets worth Rs 5.52 crore.
In Lambi, Badal will cross swords with his brother Gurdas Singh Badal, father of estranged nephew Manpreet, and his cousin Mahesh Inder Singh Badal.
Gurdas will try his luck on the People's Party of Punjab ticket and Mahesh is a Congress nominee.
Meanwhile, state Congress chief and chief ministerial contender Capt Amarinder Singh today filed his nomination. He is seeking re-election from the Patiala City assembly constituency.
Both the contenders, accompanied by their sons and daughters-in-law, submitted their documents at respective election offices.
Amarinder's wife Preneet, Minister of State for External Affairs, was present when her husband filed the nomination.
Amarinder's son Raninder and daughter-in-law Rishma also accompanied him.
The SAD-BJP alliance will contest the election on the development plank, Badal told reporters after filing his nomination.
Amarinder said the masses were yearning for a change and the Congress would form the government in the state.
